Event on March 22: “Potential For Multitrack Diplomacy”

Event Date: March 22, 2023 – 11:00 AM IST (1:30 AM EST)
Location: Hybrid (In-Person and Online)

Presented by Knowledge for Democracy Myanmar, IDRC and Ottawa Dialogue:

Events since the coup of February 2021 in Myanmar have set back the prospect of a peaceful transition of power by many years. Peace talks remain crucial to mitigating violence and finding potential resolution in the region. The Ottawa Dialogue has sought to look at the potential role for quiet informal diplomacy as a tool for peacemaking in Myanmar, at Track 1.5 and 2 levels, but also at Track 3, community-level.

The hybrid (in-person & online) talk seeks to revisit the Ottawa Dialogue’s 2021 Policy Brief on multi-track diplomacy in Myanmar, giving updated insights on the subject. It also discusses the ongoing research that the Ottawa Dialogue is conducting on women’s role in the Myanmar peace process and future trajectories of our work, in partnership with the IDRC.

This event will feature Dr. Julia Palmiano Federer, Head of Research at the Ottawa Dialogue, and Laura Rose O’Connor, Senior Programme Officer and Research Coordinator at the Ottawa Dialogue.
