Policy Brief #10: Tokenism to Inclusivity: Youth, Peace and Security in Post-Coup Karenni State Revolution

Written by Wint Lwin Lwin Htun and Yadanar Soe, two emerging human rights scholars, this policy brief explores the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda in Myanmar by examining the role, challenges, and contributions of youth – particularly within the Karenni political movement – amid ongoing repression and political upheaval. It analyses strategies, policies, and grassroots efforts that have emerged in support of youth participation in peacebuilding and governance, offering a constructive perspective on advancing youth-inclusive approaches to sustainable peace in Myanmar.

This Brief was funded by the International Development Research Centre through the Knowledge for Democracy Myanmar Initiative, which has supported much of the Ottawa Dialogue’s Myanmar research and programming. We thank them for this support.
